Why CSK will not win IPL 2024?

Too much reliance on Dube

CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube has been doing bulk of the scoring for CSK in the middle-order. The left-handed batter has amassed 311 runs in 8 matches at an astounding strike-rate of almost 170. Dube’s form is good news for CSK but the Yellow Army tend to depend a lot on the Southpaw which might bring their downfall, especially in knockout stages.

Poor spin attack

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, who is also struggling with the ball, CSK do not have a quality spinner in their ranks. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana was given some chances but he has also failed to prove his worth in IPL 2024 so far. Chennai has some other spin options as well. However, they are so far sticking with Jadeja.

Young Captain

MS Dhoni has been leading CSK in knockout matches so far. However, CSK is under the new leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024. This will be the first time that Gaikwad will be leading CSK in knockout matches if they manage to qualify. There’s no doubt that there will be a lot of pressure on the young captain which most of the times gets better of the players in crunch situations.
