CSK Playing XI vs DC: Chennai face Ben Stokes dilemma
In their last match against the Mumbai Indians, the CSK bowlers’ performed brilliantly and restricted the mighty MI to 139/8 in 20 overs. Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana took his best figures in IPL (3/15) and found ample support from other bowlers to restrict the explosive MI batters. In reply, the host chased down the target without breaking any sweat. Opener Devon Conway once again was the top scorer for the side.
Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad have formed a strong opening partnership, but the middle-order batsmen of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been struggling to score runs consistently. It could be due to the team’s focus on strike rate over average or some of the batters losing form.
The CSK side has found a winning combination that they would like to continue despite Ben Stokes’ recovery.
To fill the gap, Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and MS Dhoni will have to step up during the middle overs. Fortunately, CSK has all-rounders like Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja, which provides them with depth in their batting.
