The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champs, Mumbai Indians endured one of their worst IPL seasons this year, finishing last in the points table. One of the main reasons for MI’s failure was the lack of form from their star players including skipper Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Lacking form and consistency before the T20 World Cup, Mumbai Indians players have brought out their best and have delivered some power packed performances in the ongoing marquee event.

Rohit, Hardik, Bumrah among top performers for India

Speaking about Mumbai Indians players performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup, MI players have played a big role in team India’s success in the ongoing tournament.

Speaking about skipper Rohit Sharma first, the right-handed batter is currently third on the most runs list of the T20 World Cup 2024. He has amassed 248 runs in 7 innings with an astonishing strike rate of almost 156. On the other hand, fans did not see the best of Rohit in IPL as he scored 417 runs in 14 innings. His form dropped massively towards the second phase of the IPL 2024 which was one of the big reasons for MI getting knocked out after the group stages.

Hardik Pandya 2.0

Coming to Mumbai Indians skipper, Hardik Pandya managed to score just 216 runs in 13 innings during IPL. However, Pandya has one of the best batting averages in the T20 World Cup 2024. The right-handed batter has amassed 139 runs in just 5 innings with his strike rate being 149.56. The pacer has also been amongst the wickets in the ongoing tournament.

Boom Boom Bumrah

The bar for Jasprit Bumrah has always been high. Despite scalping 20 wickets in 13 IPL 2024 matches, Jasprit Bumrah could not help his side to avoid a group-stage exit. The pacer also had some off days where he leaked runs left and right. However, all of that has changed in the T20 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah has the best average of 8.15 amongst the bowlers in the current tournament. He has already scalped 13 wickets in just seven matches. Not only that, scoring runs against Bumrah has never been this tough with the pacer having an economy rate of just 4.13.
