IPL 2024 Auction: Who are the most expensive Indians as per base price?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction’s player list has been released with 333 names up for grabs. The auction, scheduled for 19 December in Dubai, will see 214 Indians up for bidding and an opportunity to earn big money.

Although, only 77 slots are to be filled across teams with 30 of them being potentially going to overseas players.

23 players have registered their names in the highest bracket of Rs 2 crore base price and 13 players have slotted themselves in the Rs 1.5 core base price club.

Harry Brook, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Chris Woakes, Josh Inglis, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mujeeb Rahman, Adil Rashid, Rassie van der Dussen, James Vince, Sean Abbott, Jamie Overton, David Willey, Ben Duckett and Mustafizur Rahman are the 20 overseas players who have the highest base price of Rs 2 crore going into the mini-auction.

That means there are only three Indians in the Rs 2 crore base price club. Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav, all three seamers, all in their 30s and all without any takers during the retentions deadline. Harshal had taken 32 wickets in the 2021 season to take the Purple Cap. Now, he has been released by Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav, teammates at Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023 season, were both released ahead of the mini-auction.

There are no Indians in the Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1 crore club with the next Indian finding its place in the Rs 50 lakh base price category.

A total of 11 Indians are in the Rs 50 lakh base price bracket. The list bears the names of Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya, Shivam Mavi, KS Bharat, Sandeep Warrier, Barinder Sran, Siddharth Kaul, Varun Aaron and Hanuma Vihari.
