Hosts Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, on Saturday. MI won the toss and opted to field first. DC were off to a dream start and Jake Fraser McGurk took MI bowlers to the cleaners. He amassed 84 runs in just 27 deliveries. On the back of Shai Hopes and Rishabh Pant’s 41 and 29 respectively, DC posted a challenging total of 257 runs on board.

Chasing the target, MI openers, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma could not fetch boundaries at the required rate. Suryakumar Yadav looked in good touch but failed to time one and departed. Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma were excellent with 46 and 63 respectively. MI needed 25 runs off the final over and the tailenders managed just 15 runs. DC outclassed MI by 10 runs.

Let’s take a look at the highlights from the match:

1. Tristan Stubbs brings consecutive scoop shots against Luke Wood

Tristan Stubbs was having a normal outing until Luke Wood bowled the 18th over the innings. He unleashed consecutive scoop shots including reverse scoops to fetch 18 runs in four deliveries. He later went on to hit the remaining two balls for boundaries as well making it a 26-run over. His array of shots included a six as well.

2. Rishabh Pant welcomes Jasprit Bumrah with a classy flick

There was much talk about the contest between Pant and Bumrah. The wicket-keeper batter has a dismal record against MI, and the credit goes to MI pacer who has dismissed him on many occasions. But Pant had other plans, he faced Bumrah and flicked his fuller delivery for a six. Later on, he was claimed by the pacer in the 19th over.

3. Hardik Pandya hits flat six off Kuldeep Yadav

Skipper Hardik Pandya looked in fine touch against DC. He was unapologetic against Kuldeep Yadav. He hit him for the boundary and followed it up with a flat-six. Kuldeep bowled it short and Pandya waited and hit straight towards long on, But, Pandya’s onslaught was halted by youngster Rasikh Dar Salam and MI succumbed thereafter.

Here are some more highlights from DC's second win over MI:

The @DelhiCapitals have won four of their last five matches, putting them in a great position compared to how they started the season.

Jake Fraser-McGurk went berserk today, while Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs contributed with strong cameos. If not for Rasikh Salam's spell, this… pic.twitter.com/yiBl6aiGwg

Cricket is a small margin game and that was a small margin victory for DC vs MI. Bumrah should have started in front of Fraser MCGurk as he never played Bumrah before. Things might have been different.

Despite solid performances from Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and Tim David it wasn't enough to secure a victory. DC came out on top claiming a valuable win and capturing two crucial points. Incredible bowling by Rasikh Salam 👏🏾

Lack of game awareness from Pant. Was applauding the bowler rather than recognising that tilak would want to get on strike and let’s the single go and the strike back to tilak #DCvsMI

Delhi has used Rasikh Salam very well. In the middle overs taking advantage of his back of the hand slower one.

Wonder why MI fielded first? 15 times teams have scored 200 plus this season and only thrice the target has been chased down.
