IPL 2024, Match 9: Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals Match Preview

Rajasthan Royals (RR) square off against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Thursday, March 28 in what will be the ninth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

In the last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious and started the season with a bang. Electing to bat first, RR skipper Sanju Samson (82* off 52) and right-hand batter Riyan Parag (43 off 29) stitched a brilliant 93-run partnership and guided the team to a total of 193/4. LSG lost wickets at regular intervals and faced defeat by 20 runs. Skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran did provide some hope but the hosts kept their nerves till the very end.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals are coming off a defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their opening game of the season. DC captain Rishabh Pant made a comeback to the field after almost one and a half years. DC who finished ninth on the table in the 2023 season wanted to make a roaring comeback in the ongoing season. The Delhi-based franchise lost the game by four wickets against Punjab Kings. The visitors will be looking to move on from their defeat and will look to secure their first win of the tournament.

Rajasthan's XI is likely to remain the same as the previous game. RR made a change in their batting order and promoted Riyan Parag to the number 4 position which proved to be right for them. Having world-class bowlers in their side, RR will be looking to back them in the upcoming match as well. All the bowlers were economical and got them wickets whenever required.

With Ishant Sharma facing a niggle in the last game, his availability raises questions and Mukesh Kumar can get a chance.
