IPL 2024: RR vs DC Match 9 - Top 3 player battles to watch out for

Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals will lock horns in Match 9 of the Indian Premier League 2024 season on Thursday, March 28. The game is set to be played at the famous Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in the first evening game at this venue. 

Rajasthan Royals have begun the season with a substantial win against the Lucknow Super Giants at home. Sanju Samson was the star with the bat as he scored an impressive 82* to take his team to a good score.

It was a disappointing comeback to cricket for Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals lost to Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. Delhi ended IPL 2023 at the ninth position and the team has invested in some promising players for the 2024 season.

3) Rishabh Pant vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Rajasthan Royals bowler Yuzvendra Chahal needs to have a huge season to be even considered for selection once more. The 33-year-old bowled just three overs in the opening game of the season and picking one wicket and conceding 25 runs. Chahal will be looking to square up against his India teammate in a key battle during the IPL 2024 Match 9 between RR and DC. 

Rishabh Pant showed his characteristic flamboyance before he was dismissed for 18 runs off 13 balls. It was a decent return with the bat for the 26-year-old who has been out of action for over 15 months.

2) David Warner vs Trent Boult

Delhi Capitals veteran star David Warner began his IPL 2024 season with a brisk 29-run knock off 21 balls. Harshal Patel’s short ball ended his stint at the crease but the Aussie legend looked assured at the crease. With the massive 2024 T20 World Cup set to be his international swansong, Warner will look to keep his amazing run-scoring form up. 

Veteran Kiwi pacer Trent Boult showed why he is considered as one of the most feared IPL bowlers in the first over. The left-arm seamer began by dismissing the dangerous Quinton De Kock for four before dismissing Devdutt Padikkal for a duck. The battle between the two veteran stars will be a key one during the RR vs DC match on Thursday.

1) Sanju Samson vs Kuldeep Yadav

In one of the biggest key battles during the RR vs DC game, Sanju Samson will be up against Kuldeep Yadav. Sanju Samson began IPL 2024 with his amazing 82* against LSG and the 29-year-old showed his full potential with the bat. Samson was unfazed despite wickets falling at regular intervals as he found good support in Riyan Parag.

Kuldeep Yadav bowled four overs and gave away 20 runs as he picked the wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma. The left-arm wrist spinner was economical with the ball as he had the batters tied up in knots with his variations and guile.
