IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad 1st innings highlights against RR in Match 50

2 weeks ago 40

Sunrisers Hyderabad came into the 50th game of the Indian Premier League 2024 on the back of two losses. Pat Cummins decided to bat first as they won the toss against Rajasthan Royals and Marco Jansen made his way into the team instead of Aiden Markram.

RR went in with the same team, as they are looking to keep their great run going. If they win in Hyderabad, the Royals will be favourites to become the first team to make it to the IPL 2024 Playoffs. Meanwhile, let us have a look at the brief summary of the first innings from the ongoing game.

Powerplay: SRH - 37/2 after 6 overs

The bowling team kept a tight leash on the Sunrisers. Avesh Khan got the wicket of Abhishek Sharma as he was caught by Dhruv Jurel for 12. Pacer Sandeep Sharma then struck when he got the wicket of Anmolpreet Singh for 5 runs.

First Strategic Timeout SRH - 48/2 after 8 overs

It was surprising that the formidable batting line-up of SRH couldn’t get going after all their amazing batting during this season. Sanju Samson saw his bowlers keep a strangle hold over the hosts to stifle their run scoring.

SRH: 50 runs off 8.3 overs

Travis Head and Nitish Reddy got SRH past the 50 mark in the 9th over when Nitish took a single off Yuzvendra Chahal. The next two balls, Chahal saw Travis Head hit him for sixes to signal a change in approach.

Travis Head: Half-Century off 37 balls

After a slow start, the Australian opener switched his gear and went after the Royals. The fifty up on the board saw Head take the attack to the opposition with some classic stroke making abilities of the southpaw.

SRH: 100 runs from 12.2 overs

Seeing his partner go for big shots, even Nitish Reddy joined the fun. The young batter hit Yuzvendra Chahal for a six and followed it up with a four to help SRH get to their 100 in the 13th over.

Nitish Reddy: Half-century off 30 balls

The runs kept flowing for the Hyderabad side as Reddy began to punish the opposition on even good balls. The young all-rounder scored his 2nd IPL fifty to give his team the much-needed impetus.

Second Strategic Timeout: SRH - 131/3 after 15 overs

The last over before the 2nd time-out wasn’t without huge drama. Travis Head was given not-out despite his bat being in the air as Kumar Sangakkara was aghast at the decision. The very next ball, Avesh Khan dismissed the Aussie batter bowled for 58.

SRH-150 runs from 16.1 overs

Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen took the attack to the Royals bowlers as they took the cleaners. The duo went on the offensive mode to keep the pressure on the visitors.

Innings End: SRH- 201/3 off 20 overs

The home fans were happy after their slow start to the innings didn’t deter their side from reaching 200 runs. Heinrich Klaasen smashed 40 runs while Nitish Reddy was not out 76 to help SRH post this massive score.
