IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals, 50th Match - Who Said What?

Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad clashed in Match 50 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the RGI Stadium in Hyderabad. After winning the toss, Pat Cummins chose to bat first against RR. Sunrisers Hyderabad, powered by fifties from Travis Head and Nitish Reddy, scored 201 for 3 against Rajasthan Royals. While Head played an uncharacteristic knock of 58 off 44 deliveries, Reddy was in control of his innings, hitting eight sixes and three fours to score 76 off 42 deliveries.

RR had a good chance of winning their ninth game out of ten as Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal both scored fifties. However, Bhuvneshwar picked up two early wickets to give SRH hope. The match went down to the wire and with Rovman Powell needing to score two runs off the last ball, Bhuvneshwar took his third wicket and won the game for SRH by just a single run. Despite the loss, Rajasthan Royals still sit at the top of the points table, while SRH have now moved back into the top four with their sixth win from ten games.

Losing skipper Sanju Samson said:

We have played some really close games this season, won a couple of them and lost this one. Credit to the SRH bowlers for the way they fought back. The margin of errors is very less in the IPL. The game is never done till it is done. It was tough to bat against the new ball and when it got old, it became easier. Credit to both youngsters (Jaiswal and Parag), myself and Jos (Buttler) got out in the powerplay, they played well and got us to that position.

I am good, was an amazing game. That's T20 cricket. Anything can happen, Bhuvi excuted that last ball. You try to take some wickets in the middle. Natarajan is a good yorker bowler, fortunately we got some wickets. Played some games here, thought 200 could have been chased down. He (Nitish Reddy) sums up the conditions pretty well, he's amazing, great in the field, gives some overs with the ball as well.

POTM Bhuvneshwar Kumar said:

I think that's my nature, I wasn't thinking about the result in the last over. There was no discussion in the last over, was just focussed on the process. Was thinking just about bowling two good balls, anything could happen. I wasn't thinking much, was just focussed on the process. The ball swung so much, can't really pinpoint, really enjoyed it. Luckily got wickets today. When the season started thought process was different, but it changed when the batters played in such a way. My thought process changed completely to be honest (from the time the time the season started to today.)
