The 57th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday is unpredictable. Constant thunderstorms might play spoilsport in Hyderabad on 08th May. With both teams with 12 points in the standings and eyeing a playoff spot, the outcome of this match could have a major impact on the qualification scenario.

Hyderabad has been experiencing thunder-showers over the past few days, bringing relief from the scorching heat but raising concerns over the scheduled evening match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Videos circulating on social media show the stadium ground drenched, with covers protecting the playing area.

The weather forecast indicates a high possibility of rain on the match day as well. According to AccuWeather, there will be a 23% cloud cover on Thursday, with slight chances of precipitation. If the game cannot be completed due to bad weather, both teams will share a point each, temporarily securing the third and fourth positions based on their net run rates.

LSG and SRH would then be left with just two more matches to secure one of the remaining two playoff berths. The teams currently occupying the top two spots, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, appear to have virtually secured their places in the knockouts.

While SRH's formidable batting line-up has faltered in recent games, LSG will be looking to bounce back from their poor performance against KKR, where they conceded over 200 runs and were bundled for 137. The absence of Mayank Yadav and injury concerns over Mohsin Khan have further raised concerns for LSG's bowling resources, putting pressure on the likes of Naveen-ul-Haq, Yash Thakur, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, and Ravi Bishnoi to deliver.
