The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is looming on the horizon and with teams looking to put in their best performances, one franchise which has many eyes set upon it is Rajasthan Royals. Reaching the summit clash of the tournament in 2022, Rajasthan failed to go big in 2023, and the side will hope that things could change for them in the upcoming season.

Speaking of their performances and players, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar came forward to reflect on how the team needs to show more trust in its players. Taking the example of Riyan Parag, Manjrekar opined that Rajasthan Royals should trust their other players as much as Parag and even stated that they could bring in new batters to their squad in the IPL 2024.

"They continue to back Riyan Parag. I think they might need a little more batting strengthening, and I hope they back Dhruv Jurel because there was something there last season. They need to start trusting other players the way they do with Riyan Parag,” Manjrekar said while previewing the auction on Star Sports.

I like the fact that they have gone for somebody like Avesh Khan: Sanjay Manjrekar

Manjrekar also talked of the addition of Indian pacer Avesh Khan to the Royals squad. The inaugural champions traded Devdutt Padikkal to Lucknow Super Giants and brought in Avesh to their squad ahead of the auction.

"I like the fact that they have gone for somebody like an Avesh Khan, so there is a little more support there for Prasidh Krishna. This is another team that looks all stacked up,” Manjrekar said.

He also talked of how Royals have a formidable lineup in the spin department, and Avesh’s arrival could further boost the lineup in the IPL 2024. He also talked of how the side could go after South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee in the auction.
