Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made wholesome changes for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. They broke the bank on Rishabh Pant and retained injury-prone Mayank Yadav. Both decisions went against LSG. The investment in quality bowlers didn’t work either. Some got injured and others lost form. That’s why LSG has to decide which bowlers to retain.
7 bowlers LSG should retain for IPL 2026
LSG has a total of 11 bowling coaches, including injury replacement. They’ll have to part ways with some of them due to the overseas player limit and overall squad strength. The players LSG will release would be Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, and Shamar Joseph.
| Mayank Yadav | Right-arm pacer | 11.00 crore | 2 wickets at 50 & economy of 12.50 |
| Mohsin Khan | Left-arm pacer | 4.00 crore | Did not play |
| Will O’Rourke | Right-arm pacer | 3.00 crore | 6 wickets at 22 & economy of 10.30 |
| Digvesh Rathi | Leg-spinner | 30.00 lakh | 14 wickets at 30.64 & economy of 8.25 |
| Manimaran Siddharth | Left-arm spinner | 75.00 lakh | 2 wickets at 33.50 & economy of 9.57 |
| Prince Yadav | Right-arm pacer | 30.00 lakh | 3 wickets at 75 & economy of 9.85 |
| Akash Singh | Left-arm pacer | 30.00 lakh | 4 wickets at 24.75 & economy of 8.86 |
Combined, they’ll be worth INR 29.50 crore and free an overseas slot. Although Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan are also injured, Avesh should be released. Not only does he cost INR 9.75 crore, but his performance wasn’t up to par. He can be bought back for a lower price or can get a similar pacer for a similar price.
The same goes for Bishnoi, worth INR 11 crore, who took 9 wickets at 44.55 with an economy of 10.83. Akash Deep just hasn’t proven himself as a T20 bowler and isn’t worth INR 8 crore. Shamar was a cheap buy, but with Will O’Rourke there, they don’t need to retain him.
