Abhishek Sharma reveals Travis Head as his favourite SRH teammate, Yuvraj Singh as cricketing idol

The pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have caused a lot of damage to other teams in the ongoing IPL 2024. Speaking about their camaraderie, youngster Abhishek revealed that the Australia international is his favourite teammate and added that he spends a lot of time with the cricketer, to understand his game.

Abhishek also mentioned that he admires Head. However, he called Yuvraj Singh as his cricketing idol. The 23-year-old stated that he wanted to play cricket since the T20 World Cup 2007, in which, Yuvraj smashed six sixes against Stuart Broad. The star all-rounder then went on to play a crucial role in helping India lift the ODI World Cup in 2011 and Abhishek revealed that it was the reason behind him wanting to play cricket.

“I have been spending a lot of time with Travis Head, I have been following him in all formats. My Punjab teammates know how I admire him,” Abhishek said in a video released by Sunrisers Hyderabad on their social media accounts.

“I was inspired to play cricket since the T20 World Cup 2007, when he (Yuvraj Singh) smashed those six sixes and he won the World Cup 2011 for India later, securing the Player of the Series title. This is how my cricketing journey started,” he added ahead of SRH’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15.

The opener also mentioned that the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad is his favourite ground and IPL 2024 is very special to him as his family is attending all the matches.

“This year, my family is coming for every match; it is special to me and a proud moment for me. Also, the Hyderabad Stadium (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium) is my new favourite,” Abhishek said in the video.

Abhishek has scored 177 runs in five matches so far at a phenomenal strike rate of 208.23. Meanwhile, SRH are fourth on the points table and a win over RCB will help them solidify their place.
