Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Live: Premier League LIVE – ARS vs NFO LIVE – Arsenal face Nottingham Forest at home in their first Premier League match of this season. They are coming on the back of winning the FA Community Shield against rivals Manchester City last Sunday. They also won the Emirates Cup only 4 days before that against Monaco. They have also registered 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 defeat in their pre-season campaign. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest registered only 1 win, 1 draw, and 4 defeats in their pre-season campaign.

Arsenal made an unwanted record last season when they stayed the most number of days at the top of the Premier League table without winning the title. They dropped points near the end of last season. Manchester City who were constantly on their tail, did not miss this opportunity and bagged the title. They will be in their revenge mode and will try to start with an easy win against Nottingham. They already one-upped Man City by breaking the curse of an 8-game winless run against them in the FA Community Shield final.

The Gunners put 5 past Nottingham Forest in their home game without conceding any last term. However, the return fixture was another story as Nottingham managed to stop Arsenal and score the only goal of the match. The win saw Nottingham hold on to their hopes of playing this season’s Premier League. It also saw Arsenal lose all hope of winning the Premier League title. Nottingham will look for a better result, or at least a similar result on Saturday as well.

Arsenal Team News

  • Arsenal have a long list of players who are getting treated for their injuries ahead of the first match of the season. Mohamed Elneny who has been sidelined since January, is yet to recover from a knee surgery. Gabriel Jesus had a knee surgery of his own and he could be out for the next few weeks due to recovery.
  • Other than those two, Jorginho and Albert Sambi Lokonga are out with muscle issues, Reiss Nelson is suffering from a toe injury, Folarin Balogun is nursing a foot issue of his own, and Oleksandr Zinchenko is yet to fully recover from his calf problem. However, he still made a brief cameo in the Game4Ukraine.
  • On the side of good news, to the coach’s satisfaction, new arrivals are settling in well enough. Jurrien Timber made a great case for himself with his performance in the Community Shield. Additionally, Leandro Trossard might also have proved his worth in the pre-season friendlies. He could even be favoured over Eddie Nketiah.

Nottingham Forest Team News

  • Nottingham will be hoping to see Taiwo Awoniyi get some playing time even if he’s introduced off the bench some time into the game. However, it still remains a doubt as the player sustained an ankle injury during their friendly against Leeds United. Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson came off the bench in their draw against Frankfurt.
  • The coach could take some time to give Johnson a place in the starting XI. Felipe is trying to come back from a knee problem, so he could also be considered as a substitute against the Gunners. However, Omar Richards who’s suffering from a groin issue, Wayne Hennessey who’s nursing a knee problem, and Moussa Niakhate who’s suffering from a shoulder injury will all miss their team’s first league match.
  • A new arrival Matt Turner could make his debut under the goalposts for Nottingham against his former employers. If the coach goes for a wing-back formation, it will be very beneficial for Ola Aina to get his first Premier League debut for Nottingham.
