Franchise cricket has been creating all the buzz. We have updates on KL Rahul and Heinrich Klaasen related to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. We also got to know the auction date for the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Ravichandran Ashwin’s Big Bash League (BBL) plans have hit a snag. The ICC has taken action against Haris Rauf. Lastly, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will make his India A debut soon.

KL Rahul staying at DC
KKR and DC’s trade talks have ended. The two franchises were discussing KL Rahul, but the former has struck down the latter’s proposal. DC suggested 3 potential trades: Sunil Narine for Rahul, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh for the wicketkeeper, and lastly, Harshit Rana and Rinku. But KKR rejected all 3.

Haris Rauf suspended by ICC
ICC has handed Haris Rauf a 2-match ban for breaching the code of conduct during the Asia Cup. The fast bowler had verbally abused Indian players and made war-related gestures towards Indian fans in Dubai. Apart from Haris, Suryakumar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Sahibzada Farhan have also been punished.

Klaasen in IPL 2026 auction?
SRH might release Heinrich Klaasen ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. The wicketkeeper was retained for INR 23 crore last year but didn’t perform as expected. The South African has retired from international cricket and doesn’t play the same quality of bowlers in franchise cricket. SRH believes they might be able to buy Klaasen back for about INR 15 crore.

Ashwin to miss BBL
Ravichandran Ashwin’s BBL debut will have to wait. The spinner was set to make his franchise debut, other than in the IPL, but due to a knee injury, he has been ruled out. Ashwin was expected to play the entire 2025-26 season after pulling out of the ILT20 auction.

WPL auction date out
The WPL 2026 mega auction will take place in Delhi on November 27. Due to the T20 World Cup, the 4th edition of the tournament will start in January instead of February, and that’s why the auction has been moved up as well. The retention deadline for the auction is November 5, with a maximum of 5 players allowed to be retained.

Suryavanshi for India A
BCCI has announced India A’s squad for the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship. Youngsters like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, and Suryansh Shedge have been selected, with Jitesh Sharma named as captain. Fascinatingly, Ayush Mhatre hasn’t been selected.
