Dwayne Bravo congratulates Yuzvendra Chahal, sings famous 'Champion' song for rewriting IPL history

Yuzvendra Chahal etched his name in the IPL record books as he became the highest wicket-taker in the history of the competition during match No. 56 of IPL 2023 between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. The wrist-spinner surpassed Dwayne Bravo’s tally of 183 wickets after he dismissed KKR captain Nitish Rana in the eleventh over of the innings.

Following his historic feat, Chahal got a special message from Bravo congratulating him for his achievement. The former CSK all-rounder congratulated the wrist-spinner in his own style, singing his famous song ‘Champion’ and called him one of the best to ever play the game.

“Yuzi! Champion! everybody knows Yuzi a champion. Hey bro, This is the champion DJ Bravo, I want to take this time to say congratulations on being the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. You deserve it, one of the best to play the game and you know number one. So congratulations, all the best from the Champion. Well-deserved,” said Bravo in the video shared by Chennai Super Kings official Twitter handle.

Notably, Chahal levelled Bravo’s tally during match No. 52 against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he dismissed Aiden Markram. The 32-year-old finished the game with figures of 4/29 in his four-over spell. He further picked up 4/25 against KKR in the next game and became the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

Yuzvendra Chahal has 187 wickets to his name

Chahal now has 187 wickets to his name from 144 innings at an average of 21.48 and an economy of 7.66. The wrist spinner is also ranked second in the race for the IPL purple cap being the second-highest wicket-taker of the season with 21 scalps to his name at an average of 18.67 and an economy of 8.02.

Chahal will look to continue splendid performance as Rajasthan Royals give their all in the field to enter the playoffs. They’re currently ranked sixth on the points table with six wins from 13 games and need to their remaining fixtures to have any chance of qualification into the playoffs.
