Good news for Hardik Pandya. The India Cricket Team star is set to make his comeback ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). BCCI secretary Jay Shah has claimed that the superstar is set to make his comeback for the India Cricket Team ahead of the IPL. Hardik Pandya may return for the Men in Blues for the India vs Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) T20I series.

Hardik Pandya got injured on the left ankle ligament during the ODI World Cup. He subsequently missed the remainder of the tournament followed by the IND vs AUS T20I series and the upcoming IND vs SA series entirely. But with the main focus on the T20 World Cup and the IPL, Pandya is expected to be ready for the IND vs AFG T20I series, set to be held in January of 2024.

“What is the need to have clarity right now? It (T20 World Cup) is starting in June, we have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan,” said Jay Shah.

“We are monitoring it on a day-to-day basis. He is at NCA only, he is working very hard and we will let you know in the due course the moment he is fit. He could be fit before the Afghanistan series also,” Shah added.

Initially, there were doubts that Hardik Pandya might need surgery on his ligament tear. However, the star all-rounder is currently undergoing his recovery and rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

But with the main focus of the Indian Cricket Team currently aimed at the T20 World Cup, it is of utmost importance that Hardya returns to the field fast. Following the IND vs SA series, India will face the Pathans for a 3-match T20I series which will be India’s last International T20 match before the World Cup.

Since Hardik Pandya is a vital cog in the Indian setup his recovery and return are very important. It further remains to be seen how he plays in IPL 2024 after changing ship from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians on IPL 2024 Retention Day.
