German model LizLaz has made a shock revelation that she was offered large sums of money to come out and spread negativity about batting icon Virat Kohli. This comes after the India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter liked one of her posts on Instagram earlier this year.
Kohli is one of the most followed sports stars on Instagram, having more than 273 million people following the legendary batter. It therefore comes as no surprise that every activity on his social media is closely monitored by cricketing fans.
After the liking saga, LizLaz went on to reveal that various media outlets in the country offered her money to say negative stuff about Kohli and spread false rumours. The model, however, did not hesitate in declining such offers, suggesting that the RCB star is her favourite cricketer and she would never say anything against him. She also stated how shocked and emotional she was when she learned that Kohli had liked her reel.
"I was very happy and a little emotional about it, but I never expected something like this to happen. I would get so many calls from different magazines. Some people even pressure you to say things you don't want to say. Some journalists even offered me money to say bad things about him (Virat Kohli) and make allegations he never made. But why would I do that? I said it myself that he's my favourite cricketer. So why would I say bad things about him for money? I'm not that kind of person,” LizLaz was quoted as saying on Dainik Bhaskar.
It is worth mentioning that ever since the saga, LizLaz has shared a few posts on her Instagram wearing an RCB jersey ahead of their game against the Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, which the defending champions won in a last-ball thriller.
Kohli, meanwhile, has previously been involved in liking random Instagram posts as well, with the batter clarifying that it was not his doing.
