After a horrid debut IPL season, Harry Brook is ready to handle the pressure when he goes under the hammer at the IPL 2024 auction.

After having a miserable debut in the Indian Premier League, young star Harry Brook is ready for the IPL 2024 season. The 24-year-old notched up his maiden ODI fifty just three days ago. However, it was not Brook’s performance that piqued everyone’s interest, but his comments after.

The batter owned up to a mistake he had made last year when he hit back at his critics after scoring his first IPL century. Calling himself an idiot for the mistake, Harry has shown he’s ready to face the pressure when he goes under the hammer at the IPL 2024 auction.

“I was an idiot, and I said that stupid thing in an interview, which I regret a little bit,” Brook was quoted by the BBC after the WI vs ENG 1st ODI on December 3.

How does Harry Brook cope with the pressure now?

Explaining how difficult it is to play in India, Brook described how he let voices online get inside his head. However, the batter has since released that the best method to cope with pressure is to stop looking at people’s comments.

“In India, you end up sitting in your hotel room, not much to do so I find myself just scrolling Instagram or Twitter or whatever and come across stuff you just don’t want to see. I thought it was the right idea to get off it. I’ve obviously still got Instagram and Twitter but thankfully I’ve got someone running it for me,” he said.

“I’ve been off social media for a while now, anything I stumble across, I delete it from the phone. I haven’t really seen any negativity, I think that’s helped my game, helped my mental health and everything to be off social media and seeing all the negativity that brings,” Harry Brook concluded.

Brook’s performance in the league ahead of IPL 2024 auction

Brook was an expensive buy that did not fare well for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). His inability to play spin saw him end his debut season with an average of 21.11 and a strike of 123.38. Given his price tag of ₹13.25 crore, SRH decided to look past the youngster and released him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
