At the IPL 2023 auction, Chennai Super Kings paid a huge sum to rope in all-rounder Ben Stokes. The English red-ball skipper joined the franchise after being signed for INR 16.25 crore, but the franchise could not get the best out of him and he was sidelined for a majority of the season. Stokes played only two games this season, scoring 15 runs in two innings, and giving away 18 runs in the only over that he bowled.
England will be hosting Ireland for a one-off Test, starting June 1, and will gear up for The Ashes after the conclusion of the Test match. Stokes, who has been in charge of the red-ball team, has returned back home to join his team for their forthcoming national assignments.
