IPL 2023: Top 10 Memes from MI vs SRH, Match No. 69

The 69th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 featured a clash between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 21.

Coming in to bat first after losing the toss, Hyderabad got off to a wondrous start to the first innings as Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal played excellent knocks. Vivrant amassed 69 runs in 47 deliveries, whereas Mayank scored 83 runs in 46 balls. After both batters provided the visitors with just the start that they needed, the rest of the batting order failed to capitalise.

Heinrich Klassen and Aiden Markram scored 18 and 13* runs, respectively. After the first innings, Hyderabad notched up 200 runs on the board. Akash Madhwal and Chris Jordan were the only wicket-takers for Mumbai Indians. Madhwal took four wickets and conceded 37 runs in four overs, whereas Jordan struck once.

Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green propel MI to emphatic win 

Coming in to chase the target down, Mumbai were met with the early dismissal of Ishan Kishan, who was sent packing for 14 runs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, skipper Rohit Sharma and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green showed resilience and played exceptional knocks.

Rohit Sharma scored 56 runs in 37 deliveries, and he was accompanied by Green, who amassed 100* runs in 47 deliveries. Their partnership brought Mumbai within touching distance of a victory, and through Suryakumar Yadav’s late push of 25* runs, Mumbai emerged victorious in the crucial match, winning the game by eight wickets. 

Mayank Dagar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the only wicket takers for Hyderabad, taking one wicket each. After Mumbai’s victory, the side now finds itself in fourth place in the IPL points table with 16 points in 14 matches. After their victory, the five-time champions now depend on the result of the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans. If Gujarat manages to defeat the Faf du Plessis-led side, Mumbai would qualify for the playoffs of the tournament.
