In the past 16 editions of the Indian Premier League, several players have underperformed for the franchise. Yuvraj Singh

Despite being way past his prime, the Mumbai Indians picked Yuvraj Singh for ₹1 crore. The then-37-year-old had managed to score 65 runs in the prior season. Yuvraj did not do much better for MI in the 2019 edition. He managed to score 98 runs at an average of 24.5 and a strike rate of 130.66 in the four matches he played.

Richard Levi

A player people may not remember. Richard Levi was a T20 specialist even before it was a thing. After picking up a decent amount of money (₹2.51 crore), Levi had a disappointing season. The batter managed to score just 83 runs in the 6 opportunities he got and failed to live up to his true potential. Levi never featured in the league after his disappointing debut season.

Andrew Symonds

In what proved to be his last IPL season, Andrew Symonds was bought by the Mumbai Indians on the back of three great editions. However, Symonds’ last outing in the IPL was anything but great. The Aussie struggled to make runs (161 in 15 matches) and scored at a rate that would make a sloth shy (95.26).

Ricky Ponting

A deja vu story for the Mumbai Indians. Similar to Symonds, Ricky Ponting too struggled in his last IPL season. However, Ponting numbers were so poor that one might think Symonds had a great season. Punter scored 52 runs in 6 matches and struck the ball at 69.33 to put an end to his franchise career.

Ben Cutting

One might wonder what led MI to buy a bowling all-rounder who failed to take any wickets. However, not only did they buy Cutting, but they retained him for next season as well. Two seasons and 12 matches later, Cutting had 114 runs and 3 wickets. A serious miscalculation by the franchise, to say the least.
