Two of the most consistent teams of the Indian Premier League, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings will face each other at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on March 19. Courtesy of winning four out of six matches so far in the ongoing IPL 2024, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is third on the points table while LSG are placed fifth with six points.
Meanwhile, Devon Conway was expected to join CSK in May but the New Zealand international is now ruled out of the competition. Richard Gleeson replaced him and might play a key role later in the season when Mustafizur Rahman will leave for international duties. When it comes to the current squad, skipper Ruturaj is in good form along with Shivam Dube, while MS Dhoni has done a commendable job as a finisher. With the ball, Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana have been exceptional.
When it comes to LSG, the batting unit needs to improve. Skipper KL Rahul hasn’t been at his best while the likes of Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni haven’t been consistent. Marcus Stoinis’ form is also a massive concern. However, Nicholas Pooran has been phenomenal, but he needs more support from other batters. With the ball, Mayank Yadav can make his return while the focus will be on Mohsin Khan and Ravi Bishnoi.
