IPL 2024: Match 55, Stats Review: Most centuries for Mumbai Indians and other stats from MI vs SRH

1 week ago 55

While it only moved them from no. 10 to no. 9 on the points table, Mumbai Indians still stomped over SRH at the Wankhede Stadium in Match No. 55 of IPL 2024.

MI elected to bowl first on a surface with swing, and that seemed to pay dividends as other than Travis Head (48 off 30), all the other top-order batters from SRH couldn't get going. Marco Jansen tried to do some things with the bat, but it wasn't until skipper Pat Cummins' (35* off17) late burst that pushed SRH to 173. Both Piyush Chawla (3 for 33) and Hardik Pandya (3 for 31) were at their best with the ball.

SRH did start waywardly with the ball, giving away too many extras, but ultimately taking three wickets before the 5-over mark. But then began the SKY show. Suryakumar Yadav (102* off 51) then stole the show without giving the SRH bowlers an inch of breathing space as he simply continued to plunder with some much-needed support from Tilak Varma. MI then chased the target off in 17.2 overs.

Here are some interesting stats from the match:
