IPL 2024: Oldest players to play in the IPL

Many cricketers who retire from international cricket continue to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Many players have played above the age of 40 and provided match-winning performances for their respective teams. Ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024, let us look at the list of the oldest cricketers who have featured in IPL.

Oldest cricketers in IPL history

Brad Hogg

Brag Hogg is the oldest cricketer to play IPL. He was 45 years and 92 days old when in played his last IPL season. Hogg has featured in four seasons and taken 23 wickets.

Pravin Tambe

Pravin Tambe has been part of two IPL franchises; Gujarat Lions and Rajasthan Royals (RR). He has taken 28 wickets in the IPL, playing till the age of 44 years and 219 days.

Muttiah Muralitharan

Muralitharan played his last IPL season at the age of 42 years and 35 days. The Sri Lankan legend has picked up 63 scalps, playing 254 matches. Muralitharan has played 156 games with Chennai Super Kings and cleared up 40 scalps.

Imran Tahir

The former South African spinner has taken 82 wickets in his IPL career. He played in the rich-cash league till the age of 42 years and 29 days. He is the fourth oldest player to feature in the IPL.

Chris Gayle

The Universal boss has amassed 4965 runs in his IPL career. He was the match-winner of Royal Challengers Bangalore for many seasons. He played for Punjab Kings in his last IPL season at the age of 42 years and 7 days.
