IPL 2024: RR vs MI Match 38 Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats, and more

1 week ago 84

Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians clashed in the 38th match of IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Mumbai, led by Hardik Pandya, chose to bat first after winning the toss. Mumbai struggled early on, losing three wickets for just 20 runs in four overs.

However, a partnership between Tilak Varma and Mohammad Nabi stabilised their innings briefly. Despite Nabi's dismissal, Nehal Wadhera joined Tilak to aggressively attack Rajasthan's bowlers, helping Mumbai reach a total of 179 in 20 overs. Tilak scored 65, and Nehal contributed 49, while Sandeep Sharma shone for Rajasthan, taking five wickets.

In response, Rajasthan got off to a strong start with Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal forming a formidable opening duo. Although Buttler departed after scoring 35, captain Sanju Samson joined Jaiswal, and together, dominated Mumbai's bowlers. Rajasthan comfortably chased down the target with nine wickets and eight balls to spare, with Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten century (104) and Sanju remaining not out on 38 off 28 balls.

Let’s take a look at the highlights from the match:

1. Tilak Varma showcased his class

Mumbai Indians were struggling at 20 for three when Tilak Varma, with his classy left-handed batting, played a brilliant knock, scoring 65 off 45 balls. His innings helped Mumbai stabilise and post a competitive total on the board.

2. Sandeep Sharma's five-wicket haul

Sandeep Sharma, previously benched due to fitness concerns, staged a remarkable return in this match. His superb bowling performance resulted in a five-wicket haul, disrupting Mumbai Indians' batting lineup. Initially claiming two wickets and later securing three more in the crucial death overs, Sharma prevented Mumbai from setting a formidable target, thereby limiting the challenge for the RR batters.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a brilliant century

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had faced form challenges earlier in the season, made an impressive return with a stunning century, effectively silencing his detractors. His masterful innings of 104 runs off 60 balls, featuring nine fours and seven sixes, guided Rajasthan to yet another triumph in the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals just one win away to qualify for playoffs. We are just half way stage of the league. Outstanding effort for them so far. #rrvsmi

Sandeep Sharma one of the most underrated bowlers in #IPL history.
Matches - 118
Wickets - 125
Econ - 7.86
S/R - 21.1
Today you can add 5/18 off 4 overs to the above.#RRvMI

Sandeep Sharma is easily the most underrated IPL player. Goes about his job silently, is very brainy and a wicket-taker. 193 T20 wickets at 7.5 Economy. Not a bad idea to consider him for World T20, I think.
