IPL 2024: Top 10 Memes from PBKS vs CSK, Match 53

1 week ago 37

Chennai Super Kings secured a 28-run victory against Punjab Kings and strengthened their qualification scenario for the IPL 2024 Playoffs. The match no 53 of the cash-rich league, held at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala, was all about the masterclass of Ravindra Jadeja, who contributed with both bat and ball to take CSK home in an all-important clash on Sunday, May 05.

Batting first, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad opened alongside Ajinkya Rahane, but the partnership couldn't last long, as the senior batter was dismissed cheaply. However, Gaikwad consolidated the innings alongside Daryl Mitchell to build a steady partnership. But it was Rahul Chahar's spin that derailed the opposition's batting right after the powerplay. The spinner got three wickets, which included the captain, Shivam Dube, and Mitchell Santner.

Later in the innings, Harshal Patel bowled exceptionally at the death, but Ravindra Jadeja kept scoring runs from one end. The southpaw played a crucial knock when all the batters failed to step up. The Saurashtra all-rounder propelled CSK to 167/9 at the end of 20 overs, as PBKS bowlers did a good job to restrict the defending champions.

During the chase, the hosts entered with a clear and a seemingly gettable target, but visiting bowlers had other ideas. First up, it was Tushar Deshpande, who bagged a couple of wickets in the powerplay to put pressure straight up. Spinners too joined the party, as Santner and Jadeja shared four wickets between them. The spin twins also kept the run rate under check, and didn't allow any room for the PBKS batters to free their arms.

Later, Impact Player Simarjeet Singh too impressed with a couple of wickets in his debut game of the season. The failure of middle-order to stabilize the innings badly hurt the Kings. Barring Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, none could score more than 20, displaying a lack of batting intent enforced by some clever ploys by the Super Kings.
