IPL 2024: Why is Mayank Yadav not playing IPL 2024 Match 54 between LSG vs KKR?

1 week ago 46

The Match No. 54 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 saw the Lucknow Super Giants win the toss and bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The LSG skipper, KL Rahul, at the toss, announced that express pacer Mayank Yadav won't be taking part in the all-important clash on Sunday, May 05. The captain further revealed that Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur will feature in Yadav's place.

“We will bowl first. I'm not a best reader of a wicket, we just like chasing. The good thing is we have been able to adapt really well and quickly to the conditions, there have been quite a few brilliant individual performances as well. There's been a lot of talk about strike-rate, and T20 cricket has changed a lot in the last couple of years. He was injured in the last game, Yash Thakur comes in for Mayank Yadav,” Rahul said at the toss.

The actual reason for Mayank's ouster was because of the injury he sustained in LSG's previous encounter against Mumbai Indians. The Uttar Pradesh pacer had to leave the field midway, and could not take further part in the game. As a result, the Super Giants are unable to field the speedster for the clash against Knight Riders.
