The five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered yet another setback in their injury-hit IPL 2026 campaign, with all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a fractured right foot.

The franchise confirmed the development via their official social media handles, stating that the 28-year-old sustained the injury during CSK’s recent home clash against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, May 2, a game that was also his IPL debut.

Although the exact moment of injury is yet to be identified, Ghosh was involved in a sharp fielding effort early in the match, completing a diving catch to dismiss Will Jacks. He also appeared to lose balance during his follow-through after delivering his first ball to Naman Dhir, which could have contributed to the issue.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had hinted at the injury concern during the post-match press conference. He praised Ghosh’s recent progress, highlighting his strong performances in training sessions and his growing ability with the bat.

“He has been improving steadily over the last few weeks and looked very impressive during our academy sessions. It’s unfortunate that he picked up an injury. He’s also worked hard on his batting, which has become a real strength. He can genuinely be considered an all-rounder,” Fleming noted.

Ghosh’s absence adds to CSK’s mounting injury woes this season. The five-time champions have already been without key players like Khaleel Ahmed and Ayush Mhatre in recent weeks. Prior to the season, Nathan Ellis was ruled out, while his replacement Spencer Johnson also faced injury-related delays.

Adding to their troubles, CSK have been without their talismanic figure MS Dhoni, who continues to recover from a calf strain. While the franchise roped in Akash Madhwal as a replacement for Mhatre, they are yet to announce a substitute for Khaleel Ahmed. An official update regarding Ghosh’s replacement is expected in the coming days.
