Kane Williamson has officially started his second cricket chapter. 5 weeks after announcing his retirement from international cricket, the New Zealand legend has been appointed the batting coach of the Manchester Super Giants (MSG) in the Men’s The Hundred.
Kane Williamson starts coaching career
The 35-year-old worked as a strategic advisor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. It was expected that Williamson would follow the coaching route once he hung up his boots, and that’s exactly what has happened.
The RP-Sanjiv Goenka (RPSG) Group, owners of LSG, have acquired a 70% stake in the Manchester Originals in The Hundred and renamed the franchise to the Manchester Super Giants.
One can’t forget that the former Kiwi batter played for Durban’s Super Giants in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons of the SA20. It makes sense that Williamson will keep working with the RPSG group.
Just like the IPL, Williamson will work alongside Justin Langer, who serves as the head coach of the LSG and MSG.
