The IPL 2024 auction created history, with two players getting INR 20 crore + amount in their purse. On this, former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble raised questions about the whopping amount that Mitchell Starc has bagged, in process name-dropping Virat Kohli . The speedster broke the compatriot Pat Cummins (Rs 20.50 crore) record as he went to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 24.75 crore.

The Australian speedster, Starc has been absent from the IPL since 2015. He has stirred debate as his name emerged at the top in the small auction list.

Mitchell Starc is making his return to Indian Premier League (IPL) auction after years, having last played in 2015. He has taken 73 wickets in 58 T20Is. In his IPL career, Starc has 34 wickets to his name in 27 matches he played for RCB from 2014-15.
