It is safe to say that Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins stole the limelight of IPL 2024 Auction. The Australian stars created IPL history by becoming the highest priced players in the history of the Indian Premier League. The Australian media couldn’t contain their excitement as the IPL frenzy continued.
Both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were one of the most sought players heading into the IPL Auction. But things took a sharp turn when the teams broke their bank to buy the ODI World Cup winner duo.
Pat Cummins joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping price of 20.50 crore. But soon enough Mitchell Starc surpassed his bowling partner. The latter joins Kolkata Knight Riders for a eye staggering sum of 24.75 crore.

“We’re still waiting for the auction to resume, giving us time to digest that record price Mitchell Starc sold for to the Kolkata Knight Riders,” wrote the Daily Telegraph.
“Eventually, Starc beats out his fellow Aussie quick Pat Cummins, landing at the Kolkata Knight Riders for ~$4,430,250 AUD, a new record,” the Telegraph concluded.
“Pat Cummins’ record-breaking IPL contract didn’t last long, with Mitchell Starc toppling it to the tune of a whopping $4.43 million. He joins the Kolkata Knight Riders as the most expensive IPL player ever. It’s an incredible return after spending eight years away from the IPL to focus on representing his country,” wrote The Sydney Morning Herald.
