Confirming the news through an Instagram post on Wednesday, Mohit wrote, “Today, with a full heart, I announce my retirement from all formats of cricket. From representing Haryana to wearing the India jersey and playing in the IPL, this journey has been nothing short of a blessing.”He further added, “A very special thank you to the Haryana Cricket Association for being the backbone of my career. And my deepest gratitude to Anirudh Sir, whose constant guidance and belief in me shaped my path in ways words cannot express. Thank you to the BCCI, my coaches, my teammates, IPL franchises, support staff, and all my friends for their love and support.”Known for his control with the new ball and his wide range of variations—particularly cutters and slower deliveries—Mohit carved out a notable IPL career.
He picked up 134 wickets in 120 matches, representing Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals.

Mohit was one of CSK’s key bowlers early in his career, claiming 20 wickets in IPL 2013 before winning the Purple Cap in the 2014 season with 23 wickets in 16 matches. After struggling for form and spending time away from top-flight cricket, Mohit returned impressively, first as a net bowler with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 before rejoining the main squad in 2023.
That season, he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 27 wickets in 14 innings. In IPL 2024, he remained the Titans’ leading bowler with 13 wickets in 12 matches.Signing off emotionally, Mohit thanked his family, adding, “Special thanks to my wife, who always handled my mood swings and anger, and supported me through everything. I look forward to serving the game in fresh ways. Thank you so much, Innings over, gratitude forever.”
