Pakistan cricket great Javed Miandad has regretted the way the Pakistan Cricket Board is being run after Zaka Ashraf resigned as chairman citic a lack of powers. Miandad said that frequent changes in the board have shaken the confidence of Pakistan players who are struggling for form.

“I have not seen cricket governance anywhere in the world like we see in Pakistan and these state of affairs are really sad,” Miandad said at the launch of the Sindh Premier League.

“I don’t think anywhere such frequent appointments and changes in cricket are made and it only means that we don’t have continuity in our cricket structure and more importantly the players don’t gain confidence,” he added.

Even after the 2023 ODI World Cup where Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals, the Ashraf-led board made multiple changes as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood were named T20I and Test captains respectively after Babar Azam quit captaincy for all formats. Another change was the appointment of Mohammad Hafeez as director of cricket.

Meanwhile, former coach Grant Bradburn and director of cricket Mickey Arthur have left their posts.

Miandad added Pakistan cricket team is suffering because of a lack of planning and continuity at PCB.

“Since last year we have had a really bad time in terms of our team’s performances and people who have no knowledge of cricket sit and take decisions which affect the entire structure in the country,” he said.

Pakistan were recently swept 3-0 in Tests in Australia and lost the T20I series 1-4 to New Zealand.
