Rajasthan Royals could shift home base from Jaipur to Guwahati for IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are contemplating shifting their home base from Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) champions aren’t pleased with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) after they accused RR of match fixing last season.

RR & RCA drama

The whole thing came about after RCA, which has been dissolved now, were unhappy with the number of complimentary match tickets provided to them by RR and accused them of the biggest sin in cricket, match fixing.

For the unaware, RR were found guilty in a betting scandal and banned for 2 years (2016 and 2017) from the IPL. After this, Manoj Badale and Royals Sports Group took over the franchise, and it has been smooth sailing.

But the accusations made by RCA ad hoc committee convener Jaideep Bihani had led to the resurfacing of the dark period in RR history, which the current management had no part in. Displeased with the allegations, RR wrote to the Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and the Sports Secretary regarding the matter.

Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) called the drama that was happening due to the upcoming elections, which were around the corner. However, RR doesn’t wish to continue any further at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Guwahati, the new RR home base?

According to the Times of India, RR might opt for the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Assam, as their new home base. The Royals have played the opening two matches of the IPL 2025 season in Guwahati and got a lot of love there. While the venue hasn’t been confirmed yet, one thing’s certain: RR doesn’t want to stick around in Jaipur anymore.

Last year, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) had also shifted their home base from the I.S. Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali to the PCA Stadium in Mullanpur due to low turnout in the former.
