The third round of matches in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season has commenced. With winter upon us, the day’s play ended early due to bad light in several matches. But still, there were enough noteworthy performances and moments.

Karun Nair tons up, again

Karun Nair has perhaps been the best batter of the season so far. In his first match against Saurashtra, he scored a fifty, and then against Goa, he made an unbeaten 174 when Karnataka was 128/5. The entire team, including extras, made just 197. And now against Kerala, he’s scored another hundred.

Once again, Nair scored tough runs as he came when Karnataka were 13/2 and remains unbeaten at 142. The veteran batter continues to make a case for his selection with the India vs South Africa Test series round the corner.

Jaiswal’s gutsy knock & Sarfaraz Khan flops

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was playing for Mumbai for the first time since making that Goa state change U-turn, scored a gutsy half-century. Apart from him, no other batter scored a fifty against Rajasthan. Sarfaraz Khan got a start again but failed to make the most of it. He had scored 74 (42 and 32) against Jammu & Kashmir and just 1 against Chhattisgarh. Against Rajasthan, Sarfaraz got out for 15 as Mumbai were all out for 254.

Priyansh Arya makes first-class debut

After his Indian Premier League (IPL) and Delhi Premier League (DPL) success, Delhi have handed Priyanshi Arya his maiden first-class cap against Pondicherry. He batted at number four and scored 40 from 30 balls at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Ex-India Under-19 captain scores maiden hundred

Uday Saharan, former India U-19 captain, scored his maiden first-class and Ranji Trophy hundred against Goa at the PCA New Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Saharan, who has been named Punjab’s captain at just 21, has proved why faith has been shown in him. Punjab were 92/5, and it was Saharan who saved them with wicketkeeper Salil Arora, who also scored a fifty and both remained unbeaten.
