Sanju Samson has created history as he became the most expensive trade deal in the history of the Indian Premier League. After playing for Rajasthan Royals for years, the Kerala keeper-batter now has a new home in Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On Saturday, a press release from IPL confirmed that Samson had been traded to CSK for Rs 18 crore while Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran have moved to RR at Rs 14 crore and Rs 2.4 crore respectively.
Samson ready to move on from RR
Taking to social media platform Instagram, Samson penned an emotional note after his move from RR to CSK was made official. He said that he had given his everything for the franchise and had treated everyone in the team as his family. Speaking on his trade to CSK, Samson asserted that he ‘is moving on’ while stating that he was grateful to RR for everything that they have done for him so far.
“‘We are only here for a short period of time.’
Gave MY everything to this franchise, enjoyed some great cricket, made some lifetime relations, treated everyone in the franchise as my family..
And when its time.. I AM moving On..

Shall always be grateful for everything,” Samson wrote.
Reports of Samson seeking a release from RR started doing the rounds since the end of IPL 2025. While there were multiple instances when the trade talks between CSK and RR were stalled, it picked up momentum over the last two weeks. Both franchises had raised an Expression of Interest (EOI) after obtaining consent from Samson, Jadeja and Curran. The deal was made official on Saturday after the BCCI gave its nod.
Samson made his IPL debut with RR way back in 2013. He then moved to DC briefly in 2016 and 2017 before returning to RR in 2018.
