The Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) is continuing on full swing. But currently the priority for Team India is the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. And in it, a big selection dilemma is choosing the opening batter between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

A total of 8 players have been fixed for the mega tournament. And thus the fate of 7 other players hang in the balance. Coming to the top order, we have Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Thus, there is a solitary spot left. Thus, the question arises who will be the opening pair among Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal?

Rohit Sharma will lead India’s charge in ICC T20 World Cup. But the other half of the opening pair is yet to be decided. Both Shubman and Yashasvi has been a shell of their previous self in IPL 2024. Shubman Gill still has gone on to slam 89 and 72 runs. But on the other hand, Yashasvi has managed to amass 63 runs in 5 games.

This raises a big doubt on his selection in the team. It will be a tough battle between the duo to fight for the only remaining spot. Yashasvi Jasiwal was on song in the IND vs ENG Test series. But for Rajasthan Royals, he has hit a bump. 5 matches are done and RR are placed at the top of the Points Table, that is the only saving grace for the southpaw.
