The IPL 2024 auction is just a week away, and the auction list is out. As many as 214 Indian players have put their names in the bucket, with 47 slots available. However, with the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2023 ongoing, some players have the upper hand.

Ramandeep Singh

The 26-year-old did not rake in a bucketload of runs. However, his batting was more about impact. Ramandeep Singh scored 159 in 6 matches at an incredible strike rate of 157.42. The middle-order batter scored 80 (50) to help Punjab win their first match in VHT 2023. In his short IPL career, Ramandeep has 6 wickets and 45 runs in 5 matches.

Shashank Singh

The 32-year-old has had a career-best season. The all-rounder has scored 450 runs (5th highest) and taken 11 wickets in 7 matches. Shashank Singh has been bought at the IPL auction three times but has featured in just one season (2022). In 5 innings, Shashank has 69 runs at 17.25 while striking at 146.81.

So far, veteran pacer Siddarth Kaul has the most wickets (19) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. Part of the domestic circuit since 2007, 33-year-old Kaul has always strived to improve. Having played 8 editions of the IPL, the right-arm pacer is a tried and tested bowler with 58 wickets in 55 matches.

Urvil Patel

311 runs in 4 matches—that is how much Urvil Patel from Gujarat scored. The 25-year-old wicketkeeper batter was not part of the playing XI in 3 matches and yet ended the VHT 2023 as their highest run scorer. However, the most impressive thing about him was his strike rate of 134.05, which is what players strive to achieve in a T20 match. Having already been bought in an Indian Premier League auction before, Urvil might find a franchise in the IPL 2024 auction.
