After winning his first major trophy in Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar Yadav maintained his streak. After beating Australia and South Africa, the Men in Blue have now taken a 1-0 lead over New Zealand.

Suryakumar Yadav T20I captaincy record

Suryakumar Yadav, primarily known for his 360-degree batting style, has only captained India in T20Is. Initially, he was not the permanent captain. He stepped in to fill the gap when the regular captain, Hardik Pandya, was unavailable. After the 2023 World Cup, he led India in a T20I series against Australia, securing a 4-1 victory as a form of revenge for the World Cup loss.

So far, India have won 22 matches out of 39 under him, with two ending up in a tie and wins in Super Over. Under Suryakumar, India have lost just five matches.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Surya has played under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and now he will play under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. The right-handed batter has captained in only two matches.

Suryakumar Yadav has also led his local team Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, playing six matches as captain, he has won only one while three went to a draw.

Suryakumar Yadav has experience leading in the T20 format in domestic cricket. He has captained Mumbai in 16 games, achieving a win percentage of 62.5.
