Following his second no-ball offence in the same over, Rohit was heard teasing Jadeja, saying, “Yaar, ye Jadeja IPL mein to itne no-balls nahi dalta. T20 samajh ke bowling kar, Jaddu.'

Rohit Sharma took a cheeky dig at Ravindra Jadeja on the second day of the third Test against England. It happened in the final session after Jadeja made two overstepping errors against Joe Root. The England batter came at the crease following the wicket of Ollie Pope, who was trapped for an LBW by Mohammed Siraj in the 29th over. It was not an easy success for the hosts as the on-field umpire initially adjudged it not out. As Siraj looked confident about the appeal, Rohit opted for a DRS and the review showed the ball was going into the stumps.

After Pope returned to the pavilion for 39 runs, Rohit sent Jadeja to take over the charge. The all-rounder struggled to find momentum as he overstepped twice in the same over. Following his second no-ball offence, Rohit was heard teasing Jadeja, saying, “Yaar, ye Jadeja IPL mein to itne no-balls nahi dalta. T20 samajh ke bowling kar, Jaddu. (Man, Jadeja never bowls this many no-balls in the IPL. Consider it a T20 game and bowl, Jadeja)”

Going by the nature of the Rajkot surface, Jadeja was tipped to be the most dominant bowler for India in the ongoing second Test. The local hero, however, has yet to match the expectations. He delivered only four overs on Day 2 and failed to make any impact. He looked quite pale against England’s ‘Bazball’, with Ben Duckett spearheading the attack. The English opener smashed Jadeja for a monstrous six in that expensive over, for which he had to digest taunts from Rohit.

Despite struggling to find wickets, Jadeja was able to demonstrate his grit and composure with the bat on the opening day in Rajkot. He was promoted in the order after India lost three early wickets. Jadeja notched a brilliant century, scoring 112 runs off 255 balls. He stitched an inning-reviving 204-run partnership with Rohit, who also registered a hundred. After the Indian opener was dismissed, Jadeja continued the show with debutant Sarfaraz Khan. India ultimately folded their innings at 445 runs.

England made a roaring start on Day 2. Riding on a record-setting century by Ben Duckett, the visitors racked up 207 runs in just 35 overs at a loss of two wickets.
