Star India cricketer KL Rahul played for Delhi Capitals for the first time in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League. There, he shared the dressing room alongside former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, who was with the side as a mentor. The two shared a fun banter all along, and the camaraderie showed really well on the television.

Spilling the beans on the banter between the duo, Rahul recalled an incident where he told Pietersen's wife that her husband behaves rudely, all of this obviously being a light-hearted moment. In fact, the Karnataka batter also got scolding from his own wife, Athiya Shetty, when she saw the video when he was having a go at the DC mentor.

“Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you as well. There was this video, and there were two-three times when I said something and DC posted it on the Instagram page. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy,” KL Rahul told during a conversation on 2 Sloggers YouTube channel.

“I said, ‘Half the things that he does to me and tells me, that doesn’t come out on the internet.’ This is three times that I have given after 100 times he has been after my life. I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner and I told, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me,'” said Rahul.

Speaking of Rahul's IPL 2025 with Delhi Capitals, this was the fifth franchise the wicketkeeper-batter was playing for. Entering the season a little late, Rahul was the most successful batter for the Delhi-based franchise, scoring 539 runs across 13 matches at an average of 53.90, also tallying for a couple of centuries and as many half-centuries as well. Despite his efforts, DC failed to qualify for the Playoffs.
