At 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the youngest to win the Orange Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener smashed five fifties, including 97 and 96 in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, and one hundred in the IPL 2026 season.
Vaibhav Soorayavanshi wins IPL 2026 Orange Cap
Sooryavanshi’s season ended after RR were eliminated in Qualifier 2 against the Gujarat Titans (GT). He ended his second year in the IPL with the highest strike rate (237.30), most sixes (62), and the most runs (776). In terms of consistency, he was better than Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
Gill and Sudharsan both had the chance to overtake Sooryavanshi in the IPL 2026 final. However, they departed for 10 and 12 runs, respectively, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Ahmedabad. Theoretically, Kohli can still overtake him, but he’ll need to score 177 runs, and that’s assuming that GT even scores that much in the first place.
