Who is Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Sri Lanka spinner who is making his IPL debut?

Sri Lanka’s emerging spinner made his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2024 against the Lucknow Super Giants. Known as a mystery spinner, he was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga.

Looking at his previous performances, he came into the picture when he was first signed by the Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League. In that edition of the LPL, he was one of the leading wicket-takers, with 13 wickets in the bank.

Apart from this, he also performed wonders while playing for MI Emirates in the International League T20, where he took 8 wickets in 4 outings. Take a look at his T20 career stats to date.

SRH needs a turnaround

SRH is surely doing well in the points table in IPL 2024 as they are in the 4th spot with 6 wins and 5 losses. Although their last few outings have not gone well for the Orange Army. It will be interesting to see if this Sri Lankan leggie can help SRH make a turnaround or not.
