The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to start on 23 February in Bengaluru. The opening encounter of the season will see last year’s finalists Mumbai Indians take on Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The final has been scheduled for 17 March at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The second match of the season will see home team Royal Challengers Bangalore go up against UP Warriorz.
As reported earlier, the league will be played entirely in Bengaluru and Delhi. Bengaluru will host 11 matches while Delhi will host the remain 11 games including the Eliminator (15 March) and Final.
The five-team WPL will see Bengaluru matches run until 4 March before the action shifts to the national capital the next day.
Like the Bengaluru leg, the Delhi set of fixtures will also start with a game between last year’s finalists Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
Spread across 24 days, all matches in WPL 2024 will be played in the evening at 7:30 PM IST with no double headers. In some cases, teams will be required to play on consecutive days.
First season of the WPL was played entirely in Mumbai with DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium hosting all the games. For this season, BCCI tried to keep the tournament in a home-and-away format like the Indian Premier League (IPL) but faced logistical challenges.
