Yashasvi Jaiswal, who isn’t in India’s T20I plans at the moment, has decided to play some red-ball cricket in his off-time. The Indian opener has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he’s available for selection for their next 2025-26 Ranji Trophy match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal to play domestic cricket
Mumbai have won their opener against Jammu and Kashmir and are currently playing Chhattisgarh at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai. Their third match of the season will be played against Rajasthan, starting November 1 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which is Jaiswal’s home ground in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Jaiswal hasn’t played a match since the India vs West Indies Test series ended on October 14 in Delhi. He travelled to Australia for the 3-match ODI series but couldn’t get a chance, as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill played all the matches as the main openers.
Since he hasn’t been selected for the 5-match T20I series against Australia, Jaiswal has decided to play the Ranji Trophy to better prepare for the India vs South Africa Test series, which commences on November 14 in Kolkata.
It’s unlikely that Jaiswal will play Mumbai’s fourth fixture against Himachal Pradesh since that begins on November 8, leaving little to no time for Test preparations.
