SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head are enjoying life in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. Playing together for the first time, Abhishek and Head have formed a colossal partnership at the top of the order for SRH. During the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, the pair achieved the biggest-ever powerplay score in the IPL - 125. Abhishek blasted a 12-ball 46 while Head was the wrecker in chief with his 32-ball 89. Abhishek was dismissed just after the powerplay by Kuldeep Yadav with Axar Patel taking a sharp catch at short extra cover.

In a post-match interaction, Abhishek revealed that his mentor, legendary Yuvraj Singh, will not be happy with his.

Abhishek, who has scored just one half-century this season, also said that Yuvraj wants him to bat longer.

"He would be quite upset at the last I would say. But overall I think he will be happy. He always wants me to bat for longer overs. I am trying my best, it's just that we are finding more boundaries than we are thinking, so I think he will be okay. But ya, I think that I would hear from him a lot," Abhishek said in a video uploaded on IPL's Instagram handle.

Abhishek came into IPL 2024 on the back of being Player of the Tournament in Punjab winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year.

Abhishek talked about his preparation ahead of facing Kuldeep, who was hit for 55 runs, but took four wickets, including him.

"Personally, I always try to plan well for the spinners and main bowlers of the other team. For this match, I knew about being very careful with Kuldeep, as he's their main bowler and I was watching his videos. I then try to play against any of the similar local or net bowlers to prepare for that bowling style coming in the match, and that helps me a lot."

Head, on the other hand, talked about the side's strategy of maximising power-play to the fullest in IPL 2024 in a select virtual media interaction.

"Here at the Sunrisers, the aim has been to take control of the Powerplay and be aggressive in the Powerplay. Myself, Abhi (Abhishek Sharma) and Klass (Heinrich Klassen) are able to do that. Every team has got different identities and different game plans and ours is to try to make the most of the Powerplay with the kind of batting we have got," Head aded.
