Famous actor Tamannah Bhatia summoned by Maharashtra cyber cell in illegal IPL streaming case

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia on Thursday was summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell in relation to the purported promotion of watching Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on a subsidiary app of the Mahadev online gaming and betting application, officials announced on Thursday.

The actor, who is well-known for roles in Netflix anthologies Lust Stories 2 and Baahubali, has been invited to appear before Maharashtra cyber personnel on April 29.

Tamannaah and Sanjay Dutt are said to have supported FairPlay’s Mahadev betting app subsidiary, according to ANI. The Maharashtra cyber cell called them in for what they claimed was encouraging people to watch the IPL matches on the betting app.

Sanjay Dutt called in too

Sanjay and Tamannaah have been summoned to testify in court and provide a statement. Dutt has asked for a later time, citing his hectic work schedule. The statements of singer Badshah and the managers of actors Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez have already been recorded by the Maharashtra cyber cell.

A large selection of sports and entertainment gambling is available on the FairPlay app, a betting exchange platform. According to officials, who cited a complaint in this regard, some IPL matches were also illegally streamed on the app in 2023.
