Sachin Tendulkar lands in Ranchi to encourage young women footballers

The picturesque city of Ranchi welcomed Sachin Tendulkar and his wife, Anjali Tendulkar, on Saturday, April 20 as the revered couple came to encourage young women football players.

After arriving at the Ranchi airport, the Master Blaster said that he came to the city for the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, which works in unison with the Youth Foundation, and he's there to encourage budding women footballers.

"I have come here for our foundation. The Sachin Tendulkar Foundation works together with the Youth Foundation here, so I have come here to encourage the girls football players," the legendary cricketer told the reporters.

Sachin is considered by many as the greatest to have ever played the game of cricket. He is the leading run-getter in international cricket with 34,357 runs in 664 international appearances at an average of 48.52. He has a whopping 100 international centuries and 164 half-centuries. No other batter has more international centuries or half-centuries than the Mumbai batter.

Sachin is the first player to score a double century in ODI cricket. He achieved the monumental feat in a game against South Africa in Gwalior in February 2010. The iconic cricketer also picked up a total of 201 wickets, bowling medium pace, leg-spin, as well as off-spin. He was also one of the fittest players from his generation and was very swift between the wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar urges Indians to vote during upcoming Lok Sabha elections

Sachin is an inspirational figure for Indians. People not only look up to him for his contributions on the field but also for his demeanor off it. Ahead of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the 50-year-old had taken to his official 'X' handle and posted a video to raise awareness among the Indians about the need for voting.

"Let us put everything aside and prioritize the most important task: voting. It is our chance to make a difference and score big for our country. My Vote, My Duty!" the Little Master wrote in the caption of his tweet.

Sachin has been seen in some of Mumbai Indians' matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). He is associated with the franchise on a part-time basis as a mentor/icon.
