The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction date is out. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will make some big changes vis-à-vis retentions. Big domestic sides have announced their squads for the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. Prithvi Shaw and Musheer Khan have resolved their issue. Rohit Sharma has upped his preparations for the India vs Australia ODI series.

IPL auction & retention date

The IPL auction will return to the December window. Reports suggest that the IPL 2026 auction will take place between December 13 and 15. Since it’s a mini-auction, there won’t be a limit on the number of retentions or right-to-match (RTM) cards. The deadline for announcing retentions will be November 15.

Big auction purse for CSK

CSK might free up to Rs 24.70 crore in their purse. Apart from Ravichandran Ashwin, who has retired from IPL, reports suggest that the 5-time champions will release two foreign players (Sam Curran and Devon Conway) and three Indian players (Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, and Rahul Tripathi) before the IPL 2026 auction.

Samson & Mayank Yadav let go

Sanju Samson is high on RR’s priority releases list for the IPL 2026 auction. Although it’s unconfirmed, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga might also be let go of. LSG will also likely release Mayank Yadav. The speedster has played just 6 IPL matches in the last 2 seasons and last played a competitive match in early May.

Mumbai, Delhi, and Kerala announced their Ranji Trophy squads. Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t made himself available for Mumbai’s opener, the reason for which isn’t known yet. Rishabh Pant wasn’t included for Delhi’s opener but could captain the team in the second game. Lastly, Sanju Samson has been included in Kerala’s team, but only for the opening match.

Prithvi Shaw apologises to Musheer Khan

Prithvi Shaw reportedly apologised to Musheer Khan after their fight during the warm-up match between Mumbai and Maharashtra. Prithvi had tried to hit Musheer and grab his collar after the latter sledged him. Prithvi, who played with Musheer’s elder brother, Sarfaraz Khan, for Mumbai, told Musheer that he’s like his younger brother.
